Jeanne Leep

ABOUT /

Jeanne Leep, Ph.D. is the producer of Edgewood College Theatre and the chair of the Theatre Arts Program at Edgewood College. She received her Ph.D. in directing from Wayne State University, her M.A. from the University of Michigan in Theatre Studies and has also studied at the Moscow Art Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.  She is the author and contributor of several books, including "Theatrical Improvisation, Short Form, Long Form, and Sketch-Based Improv," and the co-founder of River City Improv, a performance improvisational troupe based in Michigan. Former Chair for the Association of Theatre in Higher Education, Dr. Leep is an Educator Advocate with Theatrical Intimacy Education. She has directed well over 50 theatre productions, including Metamorphoses, The Comedy of Errors, Proof, The Penlopiad, Vintage Hitchcock, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and her award winning production of Body Awareness.  She is the 2011 recipient of the Sister Stevie Award for exemplifying the mission of Edgewood College.Dr. Leep has had the privilege to lead 13 short term study abroad trips during her tenure at Edgewood and still finds great joy in introducing students to a more global lens through travel. She and her husband Chris Edmonds enjoy both traveling and puttering around at home in their spare time.
